Out Now: Blood and Thunder (Blood Vice Book 2)

http://angelaroquet.com/books_blood_and_thunder.html

Happy Release Day!

It has been hella busy around here this summer. My gawd. I missed out on a lot of boat time, but I've been typing my tail off, and I've also been working on quite a few things for the charities I'm involved with. Lots of exciting things in the future! And lots of books on the way, too. : )  For now, here's my latest for Jenna Skye:

Blood and Thunder (Blood Vice Book 2)

Being a vampire isn’t easy. Jenna Skye thought she could pull it off without giving up her old life, but the compromises are taking a toll—and not just on her. Jenna’s sister Laura is eager to return to her glamorous life in Hollywood, and Mandy, Jenna’s wolfy partner, is getting sick of playing her K9 sidekick to get around the police department’s red tape.

Jenna’s never been good with change, but with her human existence slipping further and further out of her reach, she has no choice but to accept FBI agent Roman Knight’s offer to help the supernatural police force ruled by House Lilith hunt down a serial killer targeting new vampires in St. Louis…like her. Playing bait isn’t exactly what Jenna had in mind, but it’s a rookie lump she’ll have to take if she wants a shot at joining Blood Vice—and if she wants to survive her new life as a vampire.

She wakes up in the morgue and discovers that her partner is dead. Before the sun rises, she realizes she is too. Jenna vows to continue their investigation until justice is served, but a werewolf squatter, an unexpected visit from her estranged sister, and a nosy FBI agent stand in her way. For my fellow authors out there wondering about the behind the scenes aspects of the marketing, stay tuned. I'll be posting those details and their results in the coming weeks. ; )

Until then, happy reading! xoxo

Do You KU? #KindleUnlimited

https://www.amazon.com/Dark-Fates-II-Paranormal-Collection-ebook/dp/B01N4JFH1N

If you get your reading fix via Kindle, you're probably familiar with Amazon's Kindle Unlimited subscription service. For those not familiar with KU, it's $9.99 a month and allows you to borrow as many books as you like from a selection of over a million ebooks, magazines, and audiobooks. You won't find all of your favorite books in their limited collection, but you will find quite a few (like Harry Potter!), as well as lots of indie titles.

You can still purchase these books even if you don't have a KU subscription, but many of the indie books included in KU are not available anywhere other than on Amazon, as per their rules (for the indie authors at Amazon's mercy anyway--you can still most definitely find Harry at B&N). Authors are paid by the number of pages read rather than by book "borrows" and the borrowed books cannot be saved permanently to a reader's personal library. So the program has its pros and cons.

Do you KU? I'd love to hear what you guys think of the selection offered and if you consider it a good value for the monthly fee. Have you tried KU and ditched it? Are you planning on trying it out soon? Do you use it now and love it? If you'd like to learn more (or sign up for a 30-day free trial) check out the KU page on Amazon HERE.

My YA zombie book "Crazy Ex-Ghoulfriend" is currently enrolled in KU, and the USA Today bestselling "Dark Fates" boxset my book "Death at First Sight" is featured in is now available on KU too! I also keep a small selection of perma-free and KU exclusive books listed on the #Freebies page of my website HERE. You know, in case you're looking for more adventures (or to get your money's worth in KU).

Happy reading! ♥

#New Release: Death at First Sight (Spero Heights Book 2) #TuesdayBookBlog

It's Release Day! Woot! Death at First Sight (Spero Heights Book 2) is finally out, and I'm ready for a nap. : P

Lia James would give anything to be normal.

Struck with horrific, daily visions of death isn’t what any sane person would consider gifted. Her only consolation is that Sheriff Saunders, her shady keeper, does what he can to change the outcome of her visions—at least, the ones that might lead to a swanky promotion.

Christian Delph is not a normal doctor, and his patients’ maladies are not found in the average medical journal. As the head therapist of Orpheus House in Spero Heights, he sees everything—and usually before it happens. The one thing he didn’t see coming was Lia, and all the ways she would turn his fragile world inside out.

FAQs about this book:

Q: Do I have to read book 1 first?

A: Nope. This series is specifically set up so that the titles can stand alone. Each book follows a particular couple in alternating, 3rd person POV. There may be some slight spoilers, but nothing that should confuse readers as to what's going on in each book's central plot. (Though if you're unsure, feel free to grab Blood Moon (book 1). It's available for 99¢ right now, at most retailers. : )

Q: Why are the books in this series cheaper than the Lana books?

A: The books in the Spero Heights series are shorter and can often be read in one sitting. It seemed only appropriate to make them available at a lower price.

Q: Why is this book only available on Amazon and not through my favorite retailer???

A: This is me timidly sticking my toes in the water. I finally decided to give Kindle Unlimited a try. For at least the first 3 months. This means I'm under an exclusive contract for now. But fret not--I'll be posting links in December with details on where to find Death at First Sight everywhere else.

Okay. Happy reading everyone! On to the napping segment of this morning... xoxo

New Releases & Upcoming Events #DeathWish on #Kindle #MondayBlogs

Death Wish (Lana Harvey, Reapers Inc. Book 5) is now available on Kindle! It’s not “officially” out elsewhere until tomorrow (maybe midnight-ish tonight?). I hadn’t really planned on releasing it early for Kindle, but it’s hard to pinpoint a release time with Amazon unless a book is set up as a pre-order. I didn’t do pre-orders on Amazon for Death Wish for a variety of reasons, which I’ll cover in a later post.

http://angelaroquet.com/books_death_wish.html
One reason I uploaded the Kindle version a bit early was so a couple beta readers could download it to do a final check for typos and formatting issues. I thought I was being sneaky and that no one else would notice, since I didn’t advertise it, but I’ve been informed by a few readers that my ninja skills are lacking. Le sigh. So if you purchased Death Wish on Kindle yesterday, you might spot a few typos and formatting glitches that weren’t corrected until today.

I should have paperbacks available in time for the MileHiCon in Denver later this month, Oct 23-25. Come find me on Authors Row! If you’re strictly an ebook reader, fret not. I can totally email digital autographs too. I’ll also be at Boonslick Regional Library in Sedalia, MO on October 20th at 4pm for a signing with a group of awesome teens who participated in the writing workshop I organized this past July. They’ll be signing copies of Budding Bards, a collection I edited. And if you’re not near either of those venues, next Tuesday, October 13th, at 11:30am Central Time, I’ll be Tweet Chatting with Fresh Fiction using the hashtag #FFbchat. Stop in and ask all the questions! I’ve got all the answers! They might not be the right answers… but I’ll try to make them amusing. ; )

Read 'Em & Reap Blog Hog

I've been terrible about blogging lately. Sorry y'all. I'm hoping to make up for it today with an explosion of awesome! I met the lovely Lisa Medley at the RT convention in New Orleans last May, and it was inevitable that we would hit it off, because A) she also writes reapers, and B) she too is from Missouri. So when she asked me if I wanted to be part of a kick-ass blog hop featuring a dozen reaper writers, I was all the YES. That it would be taking place the week of Halloween was just a bonus.

So from now until the big day, come play with us, and you could win books and swag and even a $100 Amazon Gift Card! It's as easy as share/like/following the grim writers listed in the Rafflecopter below.

As for games... the first reaper reader to unscramble the following quote and post its author in the comments will have a character named after them in Death Wish, book 5 of my Lana Harvey, Reapers Inc. series. The character will be harvested by Lana and the gang at some point in the book. I promise to make it an interesting death. ; )

The scrambled quote: he never may is going he that know to can himself To immortal. but know that is He everyone is die, he dead.

Hint: Punctuation marks go with the words they follow, and the capitalized words are meant to be. Good luck!

The Inferno has Evolved…

Lana Harvey is a reaper, and a lousy one at that. She resides in Limbo City, the modern capital of the collective afterlives, where she likes to stick it to the man (the legendary Grim Reaper himself) by harvesting the bare minimum of souls required of her. She’d much rather be hanging out with Gabriel, her favorite archangel, at Purgatory Lounge. But when a shocking promotion falls in her lap, Lana learns something that could unravel the very fabric of Eternity. If the job isn’t completed, there could be some real hell to pay.

For more grim entertainment, check out the following authors and blogs!
