"Dying Day" is out now! Don't miss the epic finale in Kory M. Shrum's Dying for a Living series!

I adore this series! And I'm so tickled to be one of Kory's critique partners who get early access to her books. The final installment of her Dying for a Living series did not disappoint. It was everything I hoped it would be and more. ♥

If you're new to Kory and her books, you can grab book 1 for FREE on Kindle, Nook, iBooks, & Kobo.

Dying for a Living
(Dying for a Living Book 1)

On the morning before her 67th death, it is business as usual for agent Jesse Sullivan: meet with the mortician, counsel soon-to-be-dead clients, and have coffee while reading the latest regeneration theory. Jesse dies for a living, literally. Because of a neurological disorder, she is one of the population's rare 2% who can serve as a death surrogate, dying so others don't have to.

Although each death replacement is different, the result is the same: a life is saved, and Jesse resurrects days later with sore muscles, new scars, and another hole in her memory. But when Jesse is murdered and becomes the sole suspect in a federal investigation, more than her freedom and sanity are at stake. She must catch the killer herself—or die trying.

Dying Day
(Dying for a Living Book 7)

She was the hero. Now she is the enemy.

Jesse Sullivan has defeated her father and saved the world from his malevolence. But as the beloved face of The Unified Church, his death has made him a martyr, and now she is public enemy number one.

Yet it isn't the countless government agencies and assassins hunting her that she should fear. It is the entity powerful enough to reclaim what she has stolen and make our world its own.

Don't miss the epic finale! Get your copy today.

"Shadows in the Water" a New Release by Kory M. Shrum

Happy Book Birthday to Kory M. Shrum! Shadows in the Water is the first book in her new supernatural thriller series, and it's amazing. Oh my gawd. I love this book! It has everythinga kickass heroine with paranormal bite and a dark vendetta, a retired agent who just can't resist one more case, and a mysterious crime boss with a hidden agenda. The story weaves together like magic, and even though it's a healthy length and has a satisfying ending, you're left wanting for more. Which is the definition of a great book, in my book.

Louie Thorne was born with a dangerous gift and a reason to fear the darkness. But when her parents are murdered by the mafia, embracing her power is the only way to exact her revenge. She will destroy the men who destroyed her family—no matter the cost.

Robert King may be a retired agent, but he knows trouble when he sees it. First, his old partner returns with a case. Then an old flame begs a favor. By the time Louie enters the picture, King will be lucky to survive the night. Part urban fantasy, part supernatural crime thrillerand perfect for fans of Dean Koontz.

#BookReview of "Dying Breath" (Dying for a Living Book 6) by @KoryShrum

https://booklaunch.io/koryshrum/dyingbreath
If you thought book 5 was intense…

The action in Dying Breath, book 6 in Kory M. Shrum’s Dying for a Living series, is off the charts! The end of the world is quickly approaching, and Jesse Sullivan is in the thick of it, determined to become the apex that will either protect or destroy all of humanity.

Book 6 picks up right where book 5 left off, with a car chase through the Arizona dessert. There are only four partis left, and while Jesse is all too ready for two of them to meet more permanent ends, there’s one in particular that she can’t bear the thought of losing: Maisie, Jesse’s half-sister who’s been snatched up by her homicidal mother—and fellow partis—Georgia. A morbid family reunion in a tiny desert town kicks off this spiral toward an apocalypse that Jesse is only just beginning to understand her role in. Some hard decisions have to be made, and the final choice lies in Jesse’s uncertain hands.

This book took place over the span of one very thrilling day. Every page was packed with action and emotion. The POV was split between Jesse and Maisie, and I really enjoyed the contrast of personalities between the two sisters. I’m so looking forward to the final book next year! Jesse’s story has been building beautifully through the past six books, and I can’t wait to see how it all ends.

Reaper Squee!!! Parties, Pictures, and a #FREE book!

So the Season's Reapings Facebook parties (there was a second one for UK readers, since the timezone difference put the first one at midnight across the pond.) were a total blast! I had so much fun, and from what I can tell, everyone else did too. : )  All prizes and Christmas cards are in the mail. Woot! Goods for US readers should hopefully arrive in time for Christmas (though the postal service makes no promises this time of year). I have no idea how long it will take for goods heading to Canada and the UK, but it's all on the way!

If you haven't grabbed a copy of Season's Reapings yet, it's now available for your reading pleasure (and for only 99¢) at all these magical places/on these magical devices:

After the parties, reader Sarah Perry sent me a message about how her Halloween decor this year was inspired by Lana and Reapers Inc., and she sent pictures! They're so fantastic, and I'm stoked that she gave me permission to share them with you guys. Check it out!

This totally blew me away. ♥ Thanks again, Sarah! : D

#TuesdayBookBlog #BookReview of Dying Light (Jesse Sullivan book 4) by @KoryShrum #amreading

https://booklaunch.io/koryshrum/dying-for-a-livingIf you’re not familiar with the Jesse Sullivan series by Kory Shrum, you totally should be! Especially since you can get the first book, Dying for a Living, for FREE on your favorite ereader HERE

I was totally hooked by the first chapter! And I’ve anxiously awaited each new book since. ♥ Book 4 picks up after book 2, since book 3 was actually a different POV of books 1 & 2 mixed with additional flashbacks, all from Brinkley, Jesse’s tough as nails handler. I’m not usually one for retakes from different POVs. I like to know what’s going to happen NEXT. Do not skip over book 3. OMG. It was amazing! There was so much backstory that plays a significant role in book 4, and Kory really did a fantastic job mastering Brinkley’s voice. If you ARE familiar with the first 2 books, you probably understand the bittersweet significance of book 3 as well. T-T

Anyway, on to book 4, Dying Light. WOW.
My review: This series just keeps getting better and better! The action and tension have spiked in book 4, and the overall plot has really blossomed, affecting things on a more global level and raising the stakes to that point that leaves you wondering if there's any way this could possibly have a happy ending. It was exciting to see some characters from previous books again, and while the overall mood and ending seemed to promise doom and gloom ahead, I can't wait to read book 5 next year!!!

I’m biting my tongue to avoid spoilers, but I can at least tell you that there is a sneak peek of book 5, Worth Dying For, at the end of book 4. Squeeee!!!

Read 'Em & Reap Blog Hog

I've been terrible about blogging lately. Sorry y'all. I'm hoping to make up for it today with an explosion of awesome! I met the lovely Lisa Medley at the RT convention in New Orleans last May, and it was inevitable that we would hit it off, because A) she also writes reapers, and B) she too is from Missouri. So when she asked me if I wanted to be part of a kick-ass blog hop featuring a dozen reaper writers, I was all the YES. That it would be taking place the week of Halloween was just a bonus.

So from now until the big day, come play with us, and you could win books and swag and even a $100 Amazon Gift Card! It's as easy as share/like/following the grim writers listed in the Rafflecopter below.

As for games... the first reaper reader to unscramble the following quote and post its author in the comments will have a character named after them in Death Wish, book 5 of my Lana Harvey, Reapers Inc. series. The character will be harvested by Lana and the gang at some point in the book. I promise to make it an interesting death. ; )

The scrambled quote: he never may is going he that know to can himself To immortal. but know that is He everyone is die, he dead.

Hint: Punctuation marks go with the words they follow, and the capitalized words are meant to be. Good luck!

The Inferno has Evolved…

Lana Harvey is a reaper, and a lousy one at that. She resides in Limbo City, the modern capital of the collective afterlives, where she likes to stick it to the man (the legendary Grim Reaper himself) by harvesting the bare minimum of souls required of her. She’d much rather be hanging out with Gabriel, her favorite archangel, at Purgatory Lounge. But when a shocking promotion falls in her lap, Lana learns something that could unravel the very fabric of Eternity. If the job isn’t completed, there could be some real hell to pay.

Happy New Year FREEBIE & News

Hey! Happy New Year! .... a couple weeks late. Yeah, so you can see how well my resolution to blog more is going. lol

I intended for this to be a vlog (Is that word even used anymore?), but now that my kiddo can vault over his playpen, he pretty much has full run of the house, although he prefers hanging from my head and limbs like Curious George. Plus, the tech guy is here to switch us from Dish to DirectTV. Fingers crossed that all goes well, because BITTEN premiers tonight on Syfy!!! 10pm EST, but I'm CST, so that's 9pm for me. Woot!

I'm a big fan of Kelley Armstrong's Women of the Otherworld series, so I'm giddy right now! I got to meet Ms. Armstrong at the RT Booklover's Convention back in May of last year, and she was super nice. She was moderating a panel for Teen Day. To be honest, I'm not a huge reader of YA, but I've been getting into it lately. So last night, I picked up The Summoning, the first book in Armstrong's Darkest Powers YA series. I meant to read for 30 minutes, and then write for 2 hours before bed.... instead I read for 4 hours, until I finished the book at 1am. Then I had to go grab the second book out of my office and read the first few chapters... so no writing for me last night. I'll play catch up today... and reward myself with more reading tomorrow. hehehe

In other news, Graveyard Shift, the first novel of my Lana Harvey, Reapers Inc. series, is FREE on Kindle and Smashwords (for all other formats) through the month of January. If you're suffering from the post holiday spending blues and haven't already checked out the Lanaverse, enjoy the freebie!

I've already started preparing for the next RT convention this May in New Orleans! I'm moderating a marketing panel with my husband and coauthor, Paul Ross, as well as authors Lisa Kessler and Sierra Dean. Should be oodles of fun, and I can't wait! I'll have a few crafty videos to share in the near future, since there are some fabulous costume parties, and I have some fancy things to design for them. Plus, there's lots of fun giveaways coming up for the New Year, and that resolution to blog more, so check back soon!

xoxo
