Out Now: Blood and Thunder (Blood Vice Book 2)
Happy Release Day!
It has been hella busy around here this summer. My gawd. I missed out on a lot of boat time, but I've been typing my tail off, and I've also been working on quite a few things for the charities I'm involved with. Lots of exciting things in the future! And lots of books on the way, too. : ) For now, here's my latest for Jenna Skye:
Blood and Thunder (Blood Vice Book 2)
Being a vampire isn’t easy. Jenna Skye thought she could pull it off without giving up her old life, but the compromises are taking a toll—and not just on her. Jenna’s sister Laura is eager to return to her glamorous life in Hollywood, and Mandy, Jenna’s wolfy partner, is getting sick of playing her K9 sidekick to get around the police department’s red tape.
Jenna’s never been good with change, but with her human existence slipping further and further out of her reach, she has no choice but to accept FBI agent Roman Knight’s offer to help the supernatural police force ruled by House Lilith hunt down a serial killer targeting new vampires in St. Louis…like her. Playing bait isn’t exactly what Jenna had in mind, but it’s a rookie lump she’ll have to take if she wants a shot at joining Blood Vice—and if she wants to survive her new life as a vampire.

I did a lot of different things for the launch of this new series, and I'm excited to see how it all turns out. I'm also excited to hear what everyone thinks of the first book! For my fellow authors out there wondering about the behind the scenes aspects of the marketing, stay tuned. I'll be posting those details and their results in the coming weeks. ; )
Until then, happy reading! xoxo

Do You KU? #KindleUnlimited
If you get your reading fix via Kindle, you're probably familiar with Amazon's Kindle Unlimited subscription service. For those not familiar with KU, it's $9.99 a month and allows you to borrow as many books as you like from a selection of over a million ebooks, magazines, and audiobooks. You won't find all of your favorite books in their limited collection, but you will find quite a few (like Harry Potter!), as well as lots of indie titles.
You can still purchase these books even if you don't have a KU subscription, but many of the indie books included in KU are not available anywhere other than on Amazon, as per their rules (for the indie authors at Amazon's mercy anyway--you can still most definitely find Harry at B&N). Authors are paid by the number of pages read rather than by book "borrows" and the borrowed books cannot be saved permanently to a reader's personal library. So the program has its pros and cons.
Do you KU? I'd love to hear what you guys think of the selection offered and if you consider it a good value for the monthly fee. Have you tried KU and ditched it? Are you planning on trying it out soon? Do you use it now and love it? If you'd like to learn more (or sign up for a 30-day free trial) check out the KU page on Amazon HERE.
My YA zombie book "Crazy Ex-Ghoulfriend" is currently enrolled in KU, and the USA Today bestselling "Dark Fates" boxset my book "Death at First Sight" is featured in is now available on KU too! I also keep a small selection of perma-free and KU exclusive books listed on the #Freebies page of my website HERE. You know, in case you're looking for more adventures (or to get your money's worth in KU).
Happy reading! ♥

#CoverReveal of Ghost Market (Lana Harvey, Reapers Inc. Book 6)
Guess what I'm sharing today? The cover and blurb for Ghost Market! Woot! (Slight spoilers ahead if you're new to the series.)
***
In the wake of a thwarted war, Lana Harvey is more than ready for an extended vacation on the new houseboat she shares with the Lord of the Flies, but when the leaderless rebels begin poaching souls and selling them on the Ghost Market, Lana is tasked with heading up a new reaper unit to stop them.
Having one of the most famous faces in Eternity proves challenging when it comes to finding a way inside the secretive world of illegal soul peddling, and the only person Lana knows with the right connections is Tasha Henry, a former colleague and defeated rebel—with a poaching record of her own. The rogue reaper isn’t going to be easy to track down, and even if Lana does manage to catch up with her, the real question is whether or not a shot at redemption will be enough to lure her away from the dark side.
***
If you've read Season's Reapings, the Lana Holiday Short, then you may remember meeting Tasha. I'm really having a lot of fun writing her. She's definitely one of my more spunky characters. I'm also having fun working with a light-hearted Bub and the helljack puppies. ♥
The official release date for Ghost Market is May 1st, but it will become available for pre-order on Nook, Kobo, iBooks, Smashwords, ect. over the next few weeks. And it will be available for pre-order on Kindle on April 1st. I get a lot of questions about how all that works, and let me tell you, some of it is still a mystery to me too. If you're an interested indie writer, I'll be doing a blog post soon on the industry insights I've gathered on the pre-order business in the near future.
Hope you all enjoy the cover and blurb peek!

Happy Release Day & #BookReview of "Burned by Magic" by @jasmine_writes
Author Jasmine Walt's debut novel Burned by Magic is out today! Woot! I was lucky enough to receive an advanced reading copy, and let me tell you, I am really excited about this new series.
In the magical city of Solantha, being a hybrid is risky business--especially if you're half mage. Then it can mean your death. Sunaya Baine, a half-jaguar, half-mage hybrid, has been hiding her true nature most of her life, but when a magical mishap puts her at the mercy of the Chief Mage, Sunaya's world is turned inside out. Her investigation of a string of related silver poisoning murders is put on hold while she's held captive at the Chief Mage's castle until he decides her fate.
This was a fun, fast read! The world-building was well done, the characters diverse, and the action top notch--as well as the sexual tension. Sunaya is a snarky badass, with her many weapons, her steambike, and her fiery attitude--what's not to love? Her interaction with the two very different worlds--the human/shifter real world and the mysterious world of the dangerous upper-crust mages--will pull readers into the heart of Sunaya's struggle and make them realize that nothing is ever as black and white as it appears from one side of the fence.
If you're into snarky heroines, murder mysteries, kickass fight scenes, wild new worlds, and a dash of romance--Sunaya is your girl!
About Jasmine Walt...
I'm a devourer of books, chocolate, and all things martial arts. Somehow, those three things melded together in my head and transformed into a desire to write. Usually fantastical stuff, with a healthy dose of action and romance. My characters are a little (okay, a lot) on the snarky side, and they swear, but they mean well. Even the villains sometimes.
When I'm not working on my next book... well, honestly there's not much else I do aside from writing because I ghostwrite as my day job. But when I'm not chained to my keyboard you can find me working on my dao sword form, spending time with my family, or binge-watching superhero shows on Netflix.

New Releases & Upcoming Events #DeathWish on #Kindle #MondayBlogs
Death
Wish (Lana Harvey, Reapers Inc. Book 5) is now available on Kindle! It’s
not “officially” out elsewhere until tomorrow (maybe midnight-ish tonight?). I
hadn’t really planned on releasing it early for Kindle, but it’s hard to pinpoint
a release time with Amazon unless a book is set up as a pre-order. I didn’t do
pre-orders on Amazon for Death Wish for a variety of reasons, which I’ll cover
in a later post.
One reason I uploaded the Kindle version a bit early was so a
couple beta readers could download it to do a final check for typos and
formatting issues. I thought I was being sneaky and that no one else would
notice, since I didn’t advertise it, but I’ve been informed
by a few readers that my ninja skills are lacking. Le sigh. So if you purchased
Death Wish on Kindle yesterday, you might spot a few typos and formatting
glitches that weren’t corrected until today.
I should have paperbacks available in time for the MileHiCon in Denver later this month, Oct 23-25. Come find me on Authors Row! If you’re strictly an ebook reader, fret not. I can totally email digital autographs too. I’ll also be at Boonslick Regional Library in Sedalia, MO on October 20th at 4pm for a signing with a group of awesome teens who participated in the writing workshop I organized this past July. They’ll be signing copies of Budding Bards, a collection I edited. And if you’re not near either of those venues, next Tuesday, October 13th, at 11:30am Central Time, I’ll be Tweet Chatting with Fresh Fiction using the hashtag #FFbchat. Stop in and ask all the questions! I’ve got all the answers! They might not be the right answers… but I’ll try to make them amusing. ; )

Spotlight and Excerpt for HAUNT MY HEART by @LisaMedley #ParanormalRomance
A Civil War soldier dies to save his men. Can he find true love to live again?
Haunt My Heart by Lisa Medley
Paranormal Romance: Ghost,
Witchcraft, Hex and Sex.
Sarah Knight has a job she’s good at, a quirky BFF, and a boyfriend who’s bad for her. When Sarah unearths a Civil War artifact on a ghost hunt at Chatham Manor, she brings home more than a souvenir.
Lieutenant James “Tanner” Dawson fought for the Union, working as a supernatural liaison for his Major General in a secret Masonic offset called the Brothers of Peril. When he’s hexed by a witch, he learns the only way to save his men is to die himself. But death is not the end. Awakening 150 years later, he knows if he wants to be corporeal again, he has to find true love to break the hex—a task no easier in 21st century than it was in the 19th.
Excerpt from Haunt My Heart: It all starts when Sarah finds a ring on the grounds of Chatham Manor after a night of ghost-hunting. She takes home much more than a souvenir.
Ellie opened the driver’s side door, and Sarah waited for her to crawl across the seat of the old Mustang and pop the passenger-side lock. The broken power locks were one of many deficiencies in the classic car. Sarah retrieved her betraying phone from her pocket and powered it up as Ellie shuffled about inside the car.
As she checked her phone display, a glint of light on the ground to her right caught her eye. Aiming her screen at the ground like a flashlight, she bent low and searched for the source of the flash. Just as she began investigating, though, she heard the lock pop, and Ellie pushed the door open. The door hit Sarah in the head, knocking her to the cold, hard ground.
“Sorry,” Ellie said, scrambling to catch the door before it slammed closed again.
Sarah mumbled a few choice obscenities and rubbed her head. She reached down and ran her finger over something half-buried in the ground.
“What is that?” Ellie was hanging out the car, her body stretched across the seats.
“I don’t know.” Sarah turned the flashlight of her phone up to full beam and picked at the object in the frozen turf. “Do you have a pen or something?”
Ellie scuffled around inside the dark, rolling landfill that was her car—the interior lights long burned out—and produced a screwdriver instead. “Will this work?”
Sarah took the offered screwdriver and dug at the buried treasure. After breaking it free from its cold grave, she examined it by the light of her cell phone. “It’s a ring.”
“Let me see.”
Ellie scrambled back into the driver’s seat. Sarah joined her in the car, then shut the door against the cold.
“Hold the light,” Sarah said, digging a Kleenex from her coat pocket to clear as much of the mud from the ring as possible.
The ring remained caked with mud, which filled the engraved edges, but the stone cleaned off easily enough. The set, a square cut black onyx, glinted. The cold metal of the band warmed in her hand.
“You know what that is, right?” Ellie asked.
“A ring?” Sarah couldn’t keep the sarcasm from her voice, not after the night she’d had.
“An artifact.”
“No. Someone just lost a class ring. Like one of the sorority girls.”
“Does that look like a woman’s ring? No. No is the answer. That is a man’s ring. An officer’s ring or something. That could be a real-life, true-blue Civil War artifact.”
“I doubt it. And if it is, we’ll return it. This is a national park. There are rules.”
“I say finders keepers. Let me see it better.”
Lisa Medley writes urban fantasy and paranormal romance about monsters in love, because monsters need love too. Look for Reap & Repent (Bk 1) and Reap & Redeem (Bk 2) of The Reaping Series, available now.
A lover of beasties of all sorts, she has a farm full of them in her SW MO home including: one child, one husband, two dogs, two cats, a dozen hens, thousands of Italian bees and a guinea pig. Not so in love with the guinea pig. She can do ten pushups IN A ROW and may or may not have a complete zombie apocalypse bug-out bag in her trunk at all times. Just. In. Case.

Roquet Giveaway
About a year and a half ago, around the time I began to first tackle the interwebz officially as an "author" and my novels were being converted into ebooks for Amazon, I was doing a little search for myself (as we authors are known to do from time to time - if any of them tell you they don't, they're totally fibbing). I came across Dana Roquet. Roquet is a pretty unique name, you see. In fact, WhitePages.com shows less than 400 listings for Roquets in the entire United States. So you can imagine my surprise at finding another author with the last name Roquet. Dana and I were soon friends on Facebook, and through her more vast knowledge of our family tree, we discovered we were distant cousins! So apparently writing is in our blood. : )
To celebrate family, literature, and Valentine's Day, we're hosting a giveaway! Enter via the Rafflecopter box below for a chance to win the first two books in my series and the first two books in Dana's series, all signed. And since our big hearts just can't stand the thought of leaving a single fan empty handed, we're offering the first book in each of our series for FREE! You can find Dana's first book for all e-readers on Smashwords, and my first book on Kindle and on Smashwords.
For my readers who are not familiar with Dana's work, here's a little snippet from "Out of the Past":
Torie
1912
After dinner, the yard was growing dark, and
lanterns were lit as the people continued their merrymaking until well after
dark. My new husband Wyatt was very attentive to me. He was romantic and kept
whispering sweet words in my ear about the night to come as I thought. Oh, I really need this time warp to come to
an end!
As the hours ticked by and we meandered around the
yard sharing conversations with family and friends, I began to get a little
panicked. This warp was lasting awfully long. I kept hoping to wake up, but as
the fires died down, the crowd took up lanterns and then a procession formed.
As Wyatt escorted me down the drive and toward the house on the other side of
the road, I realized that I was about to spend Jennie’s wedding night with
Wyatt Mills and it didn’t seem as though I was going to warp out of here! Oh shit!
I tried to keep my cool as the gathering of people
sang an old song I had heard before; in fact, I thought I remembered it from an
old movie. “I Love You Truly” was the tune. As the crowd serenaded us, we stood
on the front porch of our new home and waited for the song to come to an end.
Then the crowd just stood there and stood there, until Wyatt figured out what
the holdup was. He opened the door and gallantly lifted me into his arms and
carried me over the threshold to the cheers of family and friends.
The applause died down, and Wyatt set me on my
feet inside the front room, and we watched as the throng dispersed across the
road to continue their partying. Wyatt turned to me with a chuckle as he closed
the door and leaned back against it, observing me with a smoldering look that
was as easy to read a hundred years ago, as it was today.
Oh good lord, what was I going to do? I couldn’t
very well say I had a headache or some such foolishness. This was important!
This could make or break their marriage. I really had no idea of the
far-reaching effects of these time warps. I didn’t have a manual of do’s and
don’ts! Oh I would give anything for a
manual right now!
Wyatt approached me and slipped his arms around my
waist, and then his mouth engulfed mine in a kiss that took my breath away.
With no knowledge of what they had experienced together up to this time, I
didn’t know what my reaction or level of experience should be. Had we already
consummated the relationship before? Was I a virgin? I knew that I was about to
give the performance of my lifetime as Wyatt lifted me into his arms and
carried me through the house to the bedroom which was lighted by a few candles,
and the bed had been turned down invitingly, with the window covers drawn down
tight.
For a fun excerpt from my novel "Graveyard Shift" check out Dana's blog HERE. Don't forget to enter below for a chance to win a signed set of books from us both! Good luck!

Happy New Year FREEBIE & News
Hey! Happy New Year! .... a couple weeks late. Yeah, so you can see how well my resolution to blog more is going. lol
I intended for this to be a vlog (Is that word even used anymore?), but now that my kiddo can vault over his playpen, he pretty much has full run of the house, although he prefers hanging from my head and limbs like Curious George. Plus, the tech guy is here to switch us from Dish to DirectTV. Fingers crossed that all goes well, because BITTEN premiers tonight on Syfy!!! 10pm EST, but I'm CST, so that's 9pm for me. Woot!
I'm a big fan of Kelley Armstrong's Women of the Otherworld series, so I'm giddy right now! I got to meet Ms. Armstrong at the RT Booklover's Convention back in May of last year, and she was super nice. She was moderating a panel for Teen Day. To be honest, I'm not a huge reader of YA, but I've been getting into it lately. So last night, I picked up The Summoning, the first book in Armstrong's Darkest Powers YA series. I meant to read for 30 minutes, and then write for 2 hours before bed.... instead I read for 4 hours, until I finished the book at 1am. Then I had to go grab the second book out of my office and read the first few chapters... so no writing for me last night. I'll play catch up today... and reward myself with more reading tomorrow. hehehe
In other news, Graveyard Shift, the first novel of my Lana Harvey, Reapers Inc. series, is FREE on Kindle and Smashwords (for all other formats) through the month of January. If you're suffering from the post holiday spending blues and haven't already checked out the Lanaverse, enjoy the freebie!
I've already started preparing for the next RT convention this May in New Orleans! I'm moderating a marketing panel with my husband and coauthor, Paul Ross, as well as authors Lisa Kessler and Sierra Dean. Should be oodles of fun, and I can't wait! I'll have a few crafty videos to share in the near future, since there are some fabulous costume parties, and I have some fancy things to design for them. Plus, there's lots of fun giveaways coming up for the New Year, and that resolution to blog more, so check back soon!
